Paper cutting is a kind of art, Japanese people call it Kirie (cut picture), it involves cutting the negative pieces on the white paper and then adding it to a black background for the final art look, it’s not easy, Dealing with paper require patient and needs a lot of focusing.
Masayo fukuka is a master of paper cutting, Masayo practiced it for 25 years, she’s becoming a master in it, her best art work is this paper octopus, it took her 2 months.
On the first view, you will think she drew it with thin black pins like everyone do, but Masayo has her own way to make art, she cuts the paper, she cuts every single detail to get to the final shape, and it looks like it has made from many layers but it’s all from one paper, it kinda looks like a piece of delicate patterned lace.
This magnificent octopus looks like it has made from overlapping paper, but its actually from one paper piece.
“For me, cutting pictures has become a way of dissipating all the stress of my daily life,” Masayo fukuka told Bored Panda. “If you want to get started, all the basics you need are tant paper, a cutter, matte, and a good light source.”
